Pushing back against poverty
Christian Aid Week 12th to 18th May

May 2024

Dear friends,

Christian Aid Week is a celebration of hope and life. It brings together many people in this country, from churches and other community groups, to do something positive for people in poverty, by giving and collecting donations.

We hear a lot about financial problems at the moment, and some of us are in very difficult situations. However, we should not forget that we are still wealthy and privileged, compared to the majority of the world’s people. For Christian people, our giving is part of our thanksgiving to God, and a sign of our trust that God provides more than enough for us to share. It is good to give whatever we can, whether it is a large or small amount.

The theme for Christian Aid Week is ‘pushing back against poverty’, and they can share many examples of how small gifts can help to provide significant opportunities for people to change and develop their lives and opportunities. There is more information about their work on their website: www.christianaid.org.uk
and there will be some opportunities to give through our churches, or online through the website.

Every gift that we can give, however big or small, to Christian Aid or to any other charity we would like to support, can become part of making a big change to people’s lives, and our world.
